What were you doing the moment that negative feeling arose?
Living in this stressful society, you may find it difficult to stay calm and keep peace of mind. We live each day under the pressure of work and relationships, feeling anxiety, impatience, and sometimes anger, all of which we carry with us.
However, these emotions often have triggers that cause them to arise. For example, people with trauma may suddenly feel an emotion when something related to their trauma occurs.
Someone who was chased by a dog as a child and experienced great fear might feel anxiety or fear when seeing a dog, even as an adult, despite knowing logically that there’s no danger.
On the other hand, revisiting a place filled with happy memories after a long time can connect with those memories and bring up positive emotions.
In this way, emotions are triggered by some cause.
Deliberately Provoked Negative Emotions
Here’s something shocking.
By carefully considering the cause of the emotion that has arisen, you can trace it back to its source. When this is due to work or important relationships, you need to face and confront the emotion sincerely. However, negative emotions can also be triggered in other ways.
For instance, there was a time when I was watching YouTube and found an old song that was once popular, and I became immersed in it. That song was linked to memories from that time, bringing back nostalgic feelings and happy memories, but after listening for a long time, anger began to well up inside me, for no apparent reason.
Even though I had been relaxing all day and felt mentally at ease, it suddenly happened. That day, I had been listening to classical music for a long time, thinking it would help me relax, and no negative emotions arose. However, the moment I switched to a certain famous J-pop song, alongside the nostalgic feelings and excitement, negative emotions started to surface.
The truth is that some types of music are deliberately tuned to evoke negative emotions.
Certain types of music can lower IQ and increase the likelihood of developing mental illnesses. Additionally, some music is tuned to provoke violent behavior.
The frequency of sound is closely linked to brain activity and emotions. For example, listening to classical music like Mozart can help relax the mind and temporarily increase IQ.
Therefore, the opposite is also true.
While I don’t know the true intention behind such actions, one thing is clear: in a modern world where many people suffer from mental illness, the mental health industry is thriving. Pharmaceutical companies related to mental health must be making a lot of money. Additionally, it may be inconvenient for those in power if the general public’s IQ is too high.
When you feel negative emotions rising for no apparent reason, take a moment to think calmly about where you are and what you’re doing. There might be an unexpected trigger.
It cannot be ruled out that even a song you consider a deeply moving masterpiece might be tuned to provoke such emotions.
Be Cautious of Negative Emotions and Their Triggers
The most important trigger to watch out for is food. In Japan, where I live, there is an incredible amount of additives in food, most of which are harmful to mental and physical health. Even visitors from overseas who come to Japan due to the weak yen should be cautious. Japan is no longer the safe and secure country it once was. This is why services here can be offered so cheaply.
Especially beware of chain stores run by large companies. This is because the true control of the company does not lie with the CEO, but with the shareholders. Most large companies in Japan today are owned by major foreign capital. If these foreign capital entities control both large fast food chains and pharmaceutical companies, what do you think they might plan for profit?
I have one major personal experience that comes to mind. It involves a popular drink from a well-known chain. After drinking it, I felt unwell and emotionally unstable, so I investigated and found suspicious information.
There are countless such triggers in this society.
For example, 5G signals are very strong and have been linked to various health issues. This can also apply to the dyes in the clothes that directly touch your skin. Additionally, when watching TV, you might notice that certain phrases are excessively used to incite anxiety.
For men, a noticeable decrease in mental stability occurs when testosterone levels drop. While it is inevitable that testosterone decreases with age, recently, younger people are being led into habits that reduce it.
Stress and excessive sugar intake lower testosterone levels, but when you are forced to commute on overcrowded trains and are then led to consume large amounts of carbohydrates like ramen due to that stress, the impact is significant.
As housing prices in central Tokyo rise, commuting from the suburbs becomes necessary, which makes one wonder if this too is intentional. Outside of Japan, in various major cities, real estate prices are skyrocketing. It’s hard not to see some intention behind this pattern.
Furthermore, bodybuilding is quite popular, but excessive exercise and training can actually lower testosterone levels. While moderate exercise is very effective, overdoing it becomes a problem.
The fact is that a body fat percentage of around 15% is actually when testosterone is highest, but people tend to overtrain and lower their body fat too much. In bodybuilding contests, competitors reduce their body fat to the extreme, but this should not be the goal.
Similarly, excessive aerobic exercise lowers testosterone. Be cautious with activities like marathon running or cycling. Overdoing it can turn what is beneficial into something harmful. This may also be contributing to declining birth rates.
What Can You Do to Counteract This?
My recommended strategy is to avoid taking information at face value and instead observe your own emotions and physical condition when you do or eat something.
If you continue to feel unwell or emotionally disturbed, avoid those triggers.
You can find all sorts of information in books or online. However, who would voluntarily expose the flaws of their own product?
Influencers and others are paid advertising fees to highlight only the positive aspects of a product, so information can be easily falsified.
The same is true even for scholarly papers with solid evidence. University research is often made possible because companies provide funding, and there’s always a possibility that the research could be skewed in favor of those companies.
Your body and senses don’t lie.
Conclusion
At times, controlling our emotions is difficult, and we may suffer mentally, but underneath it all, there are extreme causes and deliberate manipulations.
The services and products you use daily are not necessarily there for your happiness but are marketed that way. Most products are designed to make money.
Knowledge can be falsified, but your senses convey the truth.
When you have a bad feeling or experience an unpleasant sensation, take note of where you are, what you’re doing, and what you’re eating. Then, avoid those triggers.
